A Closer Look at Friday:
Wellbeing & Connection:
First, open your workbook and set up your page. The title can be "Journal". Next, check in with yourself. How are you feeling today? Draw the emoji that matches your mood. Third, choose one section of the page to complete: Self-Care Tip (no writing), Think About It, Character Trait of the Day, or you can choose to draw a picture of someone being honest. Bumble Bee Breaths are an exercise you can do every day, as often as you like-no writing necessary! Four, get to it! How'd you do this week? Did these exercises help you feel calm? Check in with yourself and notice what zone you've been in most of the time. If you've been out of the green zone a lot then think about trying a strategy that will help you get back to feeling good. 😊 Here are some things to try (choose one that makes sense to you): drawing, reading, exercising, using a fidget, talking to a friend (or your teacher!), listening to music, drinking some water, counting to ten. |

Spelling-Friday Word search Puzzle: Choose at least ten of your spelling words and use them to create your own word search. Once finished, maybe have a family member try and find your words in the puzzle.
Writing:
Friday is all about being creative and having fun with your writing. Start writing a book, a poem, or even a song! Whatever inspires you! Soon you’ll have the chance to share your work with the class. We’re excited to see what you create!

Math:
Just like last Friday we'd like you to connect with a friend in our class to play a math game over the phone. If that's not possible then ask a sibling or parent to play, whatever works! It's important we keep working on your basic math facts. We need to know these for grade 4! To play you'll both need a deck of cards. You may want paper and a pencil too (or your whiteboards). Here's how it works: First, decide together if you're doing addition or subtraction (or multiplication!). Second, agree what Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth (I like to write this down). How to play: Take turns flipping over two cards. On my turn I flip over two cards. If I get an 8 and a 3 then I ask my partner this question: what's 8+3? Once they answer correctly, switch. If you want to keep score, go for it! It's up to you and your partner. Have fun! |
Here's Brody and Sam playing their math game last week! Isn't that awesome? Thanks for sharing guys! Looks like you did a great job! Hope you had fun. :)
