Tuesday, April 14th
Happy Tuesday!
Today is a special day, not only is it the first day of our class getting back together, but it's also Cairo's second Birthday! He wishes he could share his cake with you guys, but sadly he'll have to eat it all himself! Speaking of Birthdays, April 8th was a big day for Alese! Happy Birthday Alese! We hope you had a very special day with your family. If we didn't get a chance to celebrate your birthday this year then along with your Easter treat you'll find a special something wrapped just for you. Can you wait until your birthday to open it? That's up to you! PS: Did you see the video message I made for you? If not, check it out now! |

Wellbeing & Connection:
Here's the instructions for Week One of your new journal activity!
First, open your workbook and set up your page. The title can be "Journal".
Next, check in with yourself. How are you feeling today? Draw the emoji that matches your mood.
Third, choose one section of the page to complete: Self-Care Tip, Think About It, Character Trait of the Day, or you can choose to draw a picture of someone being helpful. Rainbow Breaths is an exercise you can do every day, as often as you like-no writing necessary!
Four, get to it!
We'll ask you to do one section a day, so by the end of the week you'll have four journal entries and will have completed each section. If you miss one or all, or just want to talk about your answers with your parents that's totally okay. Do what works for you! 😊

Writing:
Each week we'll ask you to write a letter to a senior in isolation. You can write this letter in your notebook and take a picture of it, or you could type it out on a computer. Just like the Letter Logs we did at school, you do not need to set up the page with your name, date and title. Simply start your letter with a greeting like Dear friend, or whatever you like.
For this letter please follow the letter writing structure we practiced in class. Here’s an example of what your letter should include:
Dear friend,
(Greet them and wish them well) (Share about how you’re feeling about home school- try to give three details) (Now share what you’re most looking forward to when things go back to normal) (Finish the letter by wishing them well)
Sincerely,
(Your first name, Grade 3)
Send to: [email protected] (this is a separate email that I've set up specifically for these letters)
Each week these virtual notes will be delivered to seniors at The Langley Lodge, Avalon Gardens, Langley Seniors Village, and Langley Gardens.
PS-Thanks to those of you that shared your art last week! The seniors were thrilled! Plus, you inspired Cairo!

Math:
We'll be signing up for Mathletics soon, but for this week let's just take a minute to get used to things and do a bit of review. Let's see what you remember! Do these questions in your workbook, or on a whiteboard. OR take it outside and write them on cement with chalk! Check your answers with a calculator.
If you're using your workbook then please title the page "Addition and Subtraction".

Playful Possibilities:
Sensory Goop acts as both a liquid and a solid interchangeably. If you handle it quickly, it appears solid. You can pick it up and even form it into a ball, but if you handle it slowly the goop turns to a liquid right in your hands!
